taken 09/16/2006 - Unloading. I usually take my wheels off and stick ‘em in the car when I’m travelling. I don’t like how the front wheel goes back and forth while driving. Also, it takes two seconds for someone at an intersection to quick release the wheels and take off somewhere.
Nice rec ride with the some folks from the Bike Forums. A couple from Seattle were in town checking out the scene and wanted to ride in the cycling mecca they’ve heard so much about.
We aim to please. Jerry and ‘D’ organized a forty miler out in Tigard/Tualatin/Wilsonville for us to meander in and around. It started out cool, but after an hour I shed the layers when the sun peeked out. There were eight of us of varying abilities. It was the longest one of the gals had ever ridden. She was stoked to find it so easy and fun.
During the ride, Jerry and I spoke briefly about how demoralizing the Torture 10,000 was. I was glad to find someone else whom after the ride didn’t want to ride a bike for weeks. It put everything into perspective.
Coffee afterwards and some discussion on where our new friends could grab a bite before heading out to Powell’s Book Store. We recommended Oba or Manzana and a walk around the Pearl District. They won’t be disappointed.
