food wednesday

I started with this:

  • Big Tomatoes

  • Lotsa Garlic
  • Some Olive Oil

Baked at 325 for twenty or thirty minutes. Makes the house smell oh-so-good.

The Pains of Intention

food wednesday

I can’t get over Basso’s admission to involvement in Puerto and his saying that he didn’t dope, yet had subscribed to Ferrari’s blood doping schedule.

It’s akin to me taking money from the register, wrapping it in cellophane labeled “mine”, storing it in the freezer until I needed it.

“Why no, Mister Manager. I never stole the money. It’s still here!”

last night’s dinner. grilled swordfish and grilled asparagus.

Too Competitive? Maybe Not.

« 7 May 2007 | 5:24 | Cycling | No Comments »

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that something is too competitive. Once you subtract the people who don’t work very hard, or the people who aren’t as good as you, your competition shrinks dramatically.

- Maggie Mason, entrepreneur, author, and founder of Mighty Goods

This is why I love competition. At work. At play. Even on vacation. A healthy dose of competition is so fulfilling despite a win or a loss or getting ridden off the back. There’s always someone better at something than you are. There’s always someone practicing. There’s always someone training.

Being that someone gets you into game mode and increases your chances for a top ten. Or a podium finish. Or first place.
