Lotta Frying Going On
When I cook, I cook in butter and oil. Sparingly, though, because I’m trying to track my calories at trainingpeaks.com. If I skip candies, I can “get by” with about a quarter to third of my calories from fat. Which is better than when I eat candy; my calories from fat goes ballistic to around fifty percent.
I have to figure out how to monitor deep fried foods. I understand that proper temps of the oil will yield less fat getting soaked into the food. I made deep fried pickles and fish and chips the other day. The fish and pickles were light and yummy, while the potatoes were oily. I’ll work a little more with it to find the right balance. On days like this, I skip the heavy cream in my espresso. It makes a difference!
Here’s a picture I took of my new race car. Yes, moving to North Carolina has piqued my interest in motor sports. This car’s top speed is 154 mph and has 264 hp. Lotta torque for FWD, but it’s really fun to drive. When track day comes around, I might take it out for a few laps. The thing I don’t like would be the cost of tires. Track driving really lessens the life of your tires. Maybe there’s some used ones I can slap on for track day.
Congrats to me! I’ve never had a sports car before, having been a truck guy. Lot’s of fun, indeed!
