Wheelset Update

New Wheelset and off to the darkside to train with power.
Just placed an order from Lyle at spinlitecycling.com. I have gotten some good recommendations on wheel builders like Mike Garcia at oddsandendos.com and I decided to contract with Spin Lite because he’s a little more accessible on the phone. Both build excellent custom wheelsets, though.
My build will consist of:
Rear Wheel: 24 spoke Velocity Deep V in black with a Powertap SL power meter. I went with the wired unit as opposed to the wireless because I had heard that there have a been some data dropouts. Regardless of what Cycleops says about the issues (low number of occurences) I wanted to have the cadence sensor. The wireless unit does a bunch of math at the hub based on torque, power, revolutions and is supposed to be really accurate. Still, with something like this I’m comforted by a sensor to send the signal.
Front Wheel: 18 spoke black Velocity Deep V with an American Classic micro hub. I’m a buck fifty so I don’t need high spoke counts or really sturdy hubs.
Both wheels will have the bladed Sapim CX-Ray spokes (a worthy upgrade) and brass nipples (stronger for the low spoke count)
Unless Cycleops has some distribution problems, I should receive these in a couple weeks.
P.S. I also received on Thursday the Allen and Coggan book, Training and Racing with a Powermeter. I’m hearing Training Peaks has the best software to analyze the data, so that’ll be on the list too.
