As it was, I contracted another case of food poisoning. Luckily no one else got sick. I’ve been had been fighting vomiting the first two days and diarrhea the following three days and it still continues albeit I do feel lots better. High fever during the first days. Delirium ensued.

Doc prescribed an antibiotic to kill whatever’s left. I feel like the cure could be as bad as the disease however. Sometimes antibiotics cause just as much, if not more dehydration and diarrhea.

So. No Hammer Heed this time. I’m drinking a lot of Gatorade and following up with electrolytes too. Those Endurolytes are good stuff even when off the bike!

What happened specifically? I was in charge of the bird. I prepped it. Then failed somewhere to completed wash my hands before eating some Krispy Kreme. Had to be it. No one else here got sick. Had to have been the prep.

Ugh.

Must be on a Lance kick

Maybe I’m on a Lance kick right now. Or maybe I re-read these articles and relate it to my experiences.

While speaking of alpe d’Huez, Armstrong recounts how steep it was. How the cadence changes. How relentless it is.

It really makes me want to try the Torture 10,000 again. For me, it was the worse ride ever and I want to redeem myself. I want to get through it without stopping for a nap. I want to get through it like fishmel did in style and ease.

My friend and lifelong mentor, Doug Rennie has ridden it three times. (He’s also climbed le alpe) and will never ride the Torture again. The first time he rode it to check it out. Hated it. The second time he wanted to see if it was a fluke. He hated it. The third time it was to help a friend. He hated it.

I’ve done it once. I hated it.

Maybe it’s on the calendar to test one’s self. To be a challenge. To be hated.

Taken 11/22/2006 - Prepping the list

Happy Thanksgiving. Last night Heidi made the final list for the menu. As always, I brine and cook the turkey; she takes care of the sides and plating and decor.

I’m thankful for:

* My family who gives me life and strength and the legs and lungs to fulfill my cycling.
* My wife who is the other half that makes me whole and supports my cycling addiction.
* My friends who keep me in check.
* My work that pays for bikes and cameras and our new house.

Good day, All.

Thank Gawd it’s Wednesday. Food Wednesday that is; and last day of work before the holiday. Here’s a pizza picture from over the weekend. Ground beef, provolone, cheddar and garlic butter all on homemade crust.
