A friend of mine sent me this link to Jelly Belly Sport Beans. I told him that I was glad that they included sodium and potassium and were sufficient in calories. Go for it! A couple racers I know have endorsed these and I’m sure they taste great!

That’s because they contain sugar as their primary carb source. I’m still under the contention that maltodextrin is the favored carb for supplements, NOT because of the proported sugar “crash”, but because of the stomach’s capacity to assimilate the compound. Simply put. Complex carbs are absorbed better because with simple sugars, you’d have to drink too much water to benefit from it’s absorption ratio.

I will refer to Hammer Nutrition for the stats on this (down in the middle of the article about simple sugars).
