Double Days of Habit Breaking
My football coach in highschool told us it takes three weeks to break a habit. This was always in the summer, first day of training at double days where he’d make us run around the campus a gazillion times donning only our helmets, t-shirt, shorts and cleats. We’d follow up with drills, stretching, more running, then those squat jumping exercises up the stadium steps.
This was all to break the lazy habits we learned over the summer. Not eating right, no exercise, no agility.
Coach Page, I won’t be doing any more double days anytime soon. Those were brutal, hot, hard workouts and with cycling being mostly a spring and summer sport a lot of us are moving into maintenance mode. But I will rememer your advice on breaking a habit and take that to heart.
Time to revisit Coach Carmichael and his Climbing DVD. You’re a little bit easier on us.
taken 09/12/2006 - I still look at this steed with pride and as much as I’d like better gear, the Lemond is treating me right. I don’t have a studio yet, so I simulated one by over-exposing the background with an off camera flash. Click the photo for a higher res view.
