Training # 20 - 80 Mile “Honk”

hard

I didn’t bonk, but I did “honk”. Kind of a halfway bonk where you can still power out a 17 mph ave, but really don’t want to nor feel like it. I rode the first ten miles out across the river to pick up a Black Crowes ticket for tonight, then rode to N. Portland to meet the gang at Portland Velo. (Real nice Vancouver ride around Lacamas Lake. Big turnout for a Sunday ride. 25 riders.)

40 med paced miles later, I still had 30 miles to do. Yuck. I rode home to refill bottles and headed out to Hillsboro and back. I was hot by now. Last 10 miles was where I “honked”. Blech.

Still, it was a great ride and I’m glad I did it.

Next up. 100 miles on Thursday.

Doug and Lee at the Start. Incidentally, Doug was my high school English teacher in California. Still offering inspiration, I’d like to be riding strong when I reach his age.
